Teachable vs MemberSpace: Which is Best for Online Courses?

Teachable and MemberSpace are two popular tools that business owners use to grow their business. They’re very different in a lot of ways and knowing which is the best option for you is key when making a buying decision.

In this article, we’ll compare Teachable vs Memberspace and see which option is best for you.

Don’t Want To Wait?

Teachable is the top option for an online course. It’s easy to use and is designed for online course creation. MemberSpace, on the other hand, is great if you already have a web site and are looking to turn it into a membership site.

However, if you’re just after online courses, stick with Teachable.

Breaking it Down

Teachable is a platform that is perfectly suited for people who are not really into web design. Yet, the company seems to have a firm belief that it offers something that allows people to create a course and sell it to people for a profit. If you already have all of the materials that you want to include in the course, setting it up online is going to be as easy as uploading videos and PDFs on a platform.

MemberSpace, on the other hand, is a very interesting option if you have a website and you want to lock away specific parts of the site for members only.

It offers great options for news sites, and of course, teachers and personal fitness trainers for example. One of the key differences is that you essentially need to have or create a site to be able to properly use this platform.

When comparing Teachable vs Me

Overall Customization

mberSpace; which stands out? Let’s take a look.

Teachable

If there is anything that we could talk about that Teachable is not great at, it is definitely customization. The platform is meant to allow teachers without a great degree of experience in web design to be able to create their own course with ease.

At times, this is done providing a bit of a limited way to customize the look and feel of the pages in favor of a system that is pretty much to the point. It allows you to upload PDFs and videos to essentially create that perfect lesson plan.

If you want more color on your pages, and things of that nature, Teachable may fall short, as it is a bit more rigid.

MemberSpace

With MemberSpace you do get a higher degree of customization within the platform itself.

Also, since you essentially have to integrate it with a website created through Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, or any other platform, you essentially get the advantage of customizing everything that goes in and around the site. This, of course, is going to allow you to create a more unique space overall. If that is something that actually benefits the course or not is another debate entirely.

If we are just talking about the ability to customize the look and feel of the course and mainly its landing pages, we have to say that MemberSpace takes the cake.

Winner: MemberSpace

Ease of Use

Teachable

If you are looking for a platform that is easy to use, there is no question that Teachable should be right up there on your list.

The platform is going to guide you through the process of creating your course step by step. Giving your course a set format that is going to be easy for students to follow. The whole creation process is done on a drag and drop platform that is seemingly self-explanatory.

This was designed to make course creator’s lives a lot easier. It certainly shows in the way that it happens to be set up!

MemberSpace

MemberSpace is certainly one of those platforms that have put in the work to make sure that people understand how to use the platform. The customer service department is one of the best in the business. Most of these online platforms make it actually hard to talk to a human being for help.

With MemberSpace they can schedule a call with you to help you get set up. The problem is that you are already having to deal with integration to WordPress or Wix, which in itself, already complicates things.

Even with the help of someone over the phone. That is why we have to go with the point for Teachable here!

Winner: Teachable

Pricing

Teachable

The prices on Teachable are really clear to begin with. That is obviously, something that as a buyer you tend to appreciate with any service. We are going to be looking at the basic plan, because it is the one that compares really well with what MemberSpace offers.

You can get yearly coverage for $360 and a 5% commission fee for everything you earn. There is also the option that you can upgrade to the pro plan, which costs about $1200 a year with no commissions.

MemberSpace has a very similar fee than that of Teachble’s basic plan. You are going to be paying $25 a month, which adds up to $300 a year and a 4% commission fee.

On that alone, you could say that it should win the point.

However, you have to essentially pay for a web page and a domain to be able to put this platform on, so that can add up to another $100+ a year.

The commission fees do go down in MemberSpace if you start earning more money. At the end of the day, you are always going to be paying them though.

This could mean you could end up paying more than on Teachable. This is especially the case when you add the website hosting and domain costs! It is close, but we have come up with a winner!

Winner: Teachable
