The life of a gig worker consists of having an arsenal of income opportunities at your disposal. The most experienced side hustlers know that typically there won’t be a single magic bullet that will cure your financial woes.

In order to maximize your gig working efforts, you should have one or two main sources of income and a few other side hustles to bring in some extra cash here and there.

One of these low-effort side jobs that you can do to make money in your free time is taking surveys with Survey Junkie.

If you’ve never heard of Survey Junkie, don’t worry. We’re going to cover everything you need to know about Survey Junkie — how it works, how you can make money, and how you can get started.

What Is Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie is a platform that gives you the opportunity to make money by taking short surveys. By giving your opinion on products and brands, you can help brands shape how products and services are developed.

As a survey taker, you can expect to take 10- to 15-minute surveys for a wide range of products and services. One day you might be giving your thoughts on a new pair of headphones and another day you could be contributing to market research regarding clothing.

Whatever you’re being surveyed on, all surveys will be easy and quick to complete. Just make sure you’re answering honestly as your opinion matters a great deal to brands.

Survey companies that pay you to give your opinion are quite popular across the web, however, many survey sites tend to be unreliable and scammy. This isn’t the case for Survey Junkie. You can expect a legitimate survey taking experience where you always get paid for the effort you put in.

So how does it work?

How Does Survey Junkie Work?

Survey Junkie enables you to sign up, start taking surveys, and receive reward points which can then be redeemed for cash payouts or e-gift cards.

Sign Up and Create Your Profile

The first step to starting your Survey Junkie journey is to sign up and verify your profile. This includes confirming your email address to verify that you’re a real person. If you don’t verify your email address, you won’t qualify to receive rewards.

Throughout the sign-up process, you’ll be offered reward points for completing onboarding tasks which will cover in detail below. After you successfully sign up, you can now start taking surveys to receive rewards points.

Based on the information you provide when creating your profile, you’ll be sent survey opportunities that fit your information.

Take Surveys

Now that you’re all signed up, you can immediately start taking plenty of surveys. For each survey you take, you’ll receive a set amount of points.

Surveys can be taken from anywhere and at any time of day. To find new survey opportunities, you can log in and browse through the current selection. You will also be notified of new surveys via email on a daily basis.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take profile questionnaires. These types of surveys ask about you and your interests and help qualify you for additional surveys in the future. Profile questionnaires will also yield a certain amount of points.

Earn Points

There are several ways you can earn points with Survey Junkie. The most popular way to earn points is by doing surveys, however, there are also other rewardable actions you can take.

Rewardable actions that earn you points include completing profile questionnaires, referring friends to Survey Junkie, and successfully completing your profile upon sign-up.

For example, when first completing your Survey Junkie account, you can receive the following point amounts for completing the tasks listed below:

  • Successful sign-up: 25 points
  • Complete profile: 50 points
  • Confirm your email: 25 points
  • Take an onboarding tour: 5 points
  • Complete profile questionnaires: 10 points each

Before completing a survey or performing a rewardable action, you’ll always be notified of the points you can earn by a point amount within a green box on the screen.

Now that you know how you can earn points, how much are these point amounts even worth?

Redeem Points

Once you accumulate 1,000 points, or $10.00 worth, you can redeem your points for cash or e-gift cards. Your points can be redeemed for cash through a PayPal payout or a wide selection of e-gift cards to your favorite stores.

When you’re ready to redeem your points, you can head to the “My Points” section to redeem through e-gift cards, PayPal, or a direct bank transfer.

E-Gift Cards

One way to redeem your points is through e-gift cards. Gift cards can only be redeemed for set denominations like $10, $15, $20, etc. There are plenty of gift cards you can choose from, but some of the more popular options include Amazon cards and Target gift cards.Rewards for Survey Junkie

You should keep in mind that redeeming for e-gift cards is only available for people located in the United States. You also might be required to provide additional account verification through a phone call with a Survey Junkie representative.

PayPal

You can also opt to receive your payout via PayPal from all around the world. If you decide to send money via PayPal, you’ll be required to cash out your entire point balance.

In order to redeem points through a PayPal deposit, you’ll need to have a PayPal account set up and verified. You can cash out through PayPal from anywhere in the world.

For U.S. residents, you will need to have a verified account by completing at least two of the following:

  • Link your bank account to your PayPal account
  • Verify your credit card or debit card with PayPal
  • Provide your Social Security number

Similar to redeeming with a gift card, with PayPal redemption you may also be required to talk to a Survey Junkie representative.

Bank Transfers

Transferring cash directly to your bank is another cash-out option. To send money directly to your bank, you’ll need to provide your unique bank account number and routing number. Direct bank transfers are only available to those located in the United States.

After you’ve selected your redemption method, you’ll be asked to confirm your personal information and email address. Once you’ve confirmed, you’ll receive a payment notification that will be sent to the email you provided.

How Much Money Can You Make?

Getting paid to take surveys isn’t going to make you a fortune. You’re not going to be rolling in the dough by sitting around taking surveys all day. On the other hand, it is an excellent way to make some extra money in your free time.

To give you an idea, typically if you take surveys for about one hour throughout the day, you can make $3.00. This by no means will make you rich, but if you chip away and take surveys whenever you’re able to, it can really add up.

If you think of it as more of a long term investment, after a few months of taking surveys in your spare time, you can actually accumulate a substantial amount of cash. Of course, you can cash out as soon as you hit $10.00. But if you wait a while and let your points build up, you can have quite the payday.

Sign-Up Requirements

There are very few requirements to sign up for Survey Junkie. In order to get paid to take surveys, you must be at least 13 years old, speak and write in English, have access to the internet, and reside in the United States, Canada, or Australia.

If you think taking surveys might help you save up cash in your free time, then we recommend giving Survey Junkie a shot. To join Survey Junkie, you can sign up at this link to start earning points today.

Is Survey Junkie Legit?

Taking online surveys is a great way to make some extra money online in your free time. By no means are you going to make a fortune, but you will be able to supplement your other sources of income for little additional effort.

There’s no harm in giving it a shot to see if you can make enough money to make it worth it. At the end of the day, you get paid real money for giving your opinion whenever is convenient for you. Sounds awfully easy and convenient to us.
