Eaze: Delivering Marijuana to Your Doorstep

Over the past few years, the cannabis industry in the United States has exploded.

Marijuana use is now more mainstream than ever before.

One company that moved to capitalize on this growth was Eaze, a marijuana delivery service based in Oregon and California.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about the company that’s changing the way people get their legal cannabis.

Let’s jump right in.

What Is Eaze?

According to the company’s website, “Eaze is an online marketplace and technology platform that provides legal access to cannabis through safe and convenient delivery.”

To date, the company says that it’s completed more than 3.5 million legal cannabis deliveries.

Eaze itself is not a cannabis dispensary.

Instead, the company acts as a facilitator, hiring drivers who pick up customers’ requests from the local dispensary.

There are more than 200 products and 60 licensed brands available for purchase on the platform.

The company currently delivers marijuana in California and Oregon.

However, in 2018, after Congress passed the Farm Bill that legalized hemp in the United States, the company launched a spinoff called Eaze Wellness.

Eaze Wellness delivers hemp-derived cannabis products to residents in 41 states.

Eaze has earned the nickname, “the Uber of weed” because it provides on-demand services no matter where you are.

The History of Eaze

Eaze has only been around for the past five years, but it has made tremendous inroads in the marijuana industry during that short amount of time.

Keith McCarty first launched the company in 2014 with the goal of delivering medical marijuana to those in the Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and other parts of California.

However, the company has grown tremendously since that time.

In 2016, McCarty stepped down.

Jim Patterson, who had previously served as Eaze’s chief product and technology officer, took over the company.

It was at this time that the weed delivery app took off.

Between 2016 and 2017, the company grew by more than 300%.

At the time, Patterson told Axios, “The days of buying a baggie full of flower that has no brand and just a strand name is coming to an end.”

According to Crunchbase, Eaze has raised approximately $51.5 million in capital over the course of six funding rounds.

The most recent round of funding came in 2017 when the company raised funds during a Series B round.

Prominent venture capital investors in the service include:

How Does Eaze Work?

Eaze: jars of marijuana flower

As mentioned, Eaze is not a marijuana dispensary.

The company does not grow, sell, or produce any marijuana products.

Instead, the company acts as a facilitator, connecting delivery drivers to customers in places like Los Angeles and San Diego.
Customers begin by visiting Eaze.com and creating an account.

In addition to providing information like their name and date of birth, customers are also required to provide a valid proof of ID.

The photo identification is verified once upon account creation and a second time by the retailer when the customer places an order.

Customers then place an order from the company store’s extensive selection.

Because drivers must pick up the products from local retailers, Eaze is not available 24/7.

Instead, the delivery times are determined by when retailers are open.

Most retailers are open between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.

In addition to an online platform, Eaze also offers mobile apps for Android and Apple products.

However, your ability to use these apps for marijuana delivery could be in jeopardy.

Google recently banned apps that facilitate the sale of marijuana.

Google said that it is working on trying to find a way to allow apps like Eaze to exist still, instead of banning them from the Play Store entirely.

Spokespeople from Google told The Verge, “These apps simply need to move the shopping cart flow outside of the app itself to be compliant with this new policy.

We’ve been in contact with many of the developers and are working with them to answer any technical questions and help them implement the changes without customer disruption.”

There have been similar issues with the iOS App Store in the past.

So if you’re looking for a marijuana delivery service, you may be better off heading to eaze.com instead of trying to deal with mobile apps.

What Type of Products Does Eaze Offer?

Eaze: a man smoking

Eaze works with local retailers to offer products.

So, the products available in the store are dependent on what local retailers offer and can, therefore, fluctuate based on supply.

The types of products you can expect to find include:

  • Flower
  • Vaporizer cartridges
  • All-in-one vaporizers
  • Dose pens
  • G Pen Gio vaporizers
  • PAX Era vaporizers
  • Edibles and drinks
  • Drops, tablets, and capsules
  • Bath & body care
  • Pre-rolls
  • Concentrates
  • Accessories

Where Does Eaze Deliver?

Eaze: a delivery driver

Currently, Eaze customers can only have marijuana delivered if they live in California or Oregon.

Customers can use this on-demand delivery map to determine whether the company will deliver in their area.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Eaze expands into other states now that marijuana legalization is becoming much more common.

For instance, Massachusetts recently became the first state east of the Mississippi River to legalize marijuana.

Only time will tell whether Eaze makes its way into other states, but the outlook is promising.

The company’s Wellness program, which delivers cannabis products, also only offers on-demand delivery in California and Oregon.

However, customers in 41 other states can order CBD products and have them shipped to their door.

While convenient, it’s not quite as convenient as having the product on your doorstep in a matter of minutes.

The states where Eaze Wellness does not deliver are:

  • Idaho
  • Ohio
  • Michigan
  • Nebraska
  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • Washington

Becoming an Eaze Delivery Driver

If you would like to make money using your car but aren’t necessarily interested in ridesharing, you may want to consider becoming a driver for Eaze.

As a delivery driver, you’ll pick up customer’s orders from the local dispensary then hand-deliver them to the customer.

There are a few features that help set driving for Eaze apart.

First and foremost, Eaze delivery drivers receive an hourly rate.

This is noticeably different from ridesharing companies who only pay drivers when they have passengers in the vehicle.

Eaze will reimburse you for mileage driven as well.

This too is a perk compared to driving for a ridesharing company.

Ridesharing companies tend not to compensate for mileage.

Instead, drivers are expected to deduct the distance from their income come tax time.

If you’re frequently driving, waiting until tax season is a long time to go without that extra payment.

We are big fans of the fact that Eaze reimburses up-front.

According to an Eaze job listing for “Cannabis Delivery Specialist,” you can expect to make anywhere from $18 to $26 per hour, depending on things such as your:

  • Wage rate
  • Mileage reimbursement rate
  • Location

If you’re interested in driving for Eaze, there are a few guidelines that you’ll need to meet.

You need to be at least 21 years old to drive for the company.

You will also need to provide a valid driver’s license.

Drivers must also be “willing to consent to a criminal background check.”

There are a few requirements for your vehicle as well.

Eaze requires your vehicle to be at least a 2004 model or newer.

You’ll need to verify this by providing the company with a copy of the registration for the car.

You’ll also need to demonstrate proof of insurance.

The insurance policy must be in your name.

So long as you pass the requirements, driving for Eaze is well worth it.

With high rates of hourly pay and mileage reimbursement, you’ll want to consider driving for Eaze as an alternative to or in addition to ridesharing.

Eaze Delivery to Your Door

No matter whether you’re a long-time user looking for the convenience of front-door delivery or a first-time customer intimidated about going to your local dispensary, Eaze could be for you.

Be sure to check out our promo codes available for those placing their first order with Eaze.

Additionally, Eaze offers a 25% veteran’s discount, so long as the customer can provide some sort of military identification.

With these promo codes, you can gain access to high-quality marijuana without having to break the bank.

No longer will you have to purchase your marijuana illegally.

Instead, you can buy legal marijuana from trusted, reputable retailers.

Be sure to try Eaze today!
