A Complete Review of Zeel Massage: What You Need to Know

Zeel is an on-demand home massage app that lets users book massage therapists quickly and easily, sometimes in as little as an hour.

Therapists can come to your home, office, or meet you at a local hotel or gym.

Payment is done online, with a tip automatically built in, so no cash needs to exchange hands.

In this article, we’ll look at Zeel, both from the client and the provider perspective.

We’ll show you how the service works and give you a brief guide to the types of massages that Zeel provides.

We’ll also look at Zeel for providers and show you how to apply to work with the company.

What Is Zeel Massage?

Zeel is an on-demand massage app that lets you book at-home massages quickly and seamlessly.

The service also allows you to book appointments at health centers, local hotels, or spas, if you would prefer to get out of the house to relax.

Available at Zeel.com or the Zeel app (on iOS and Android), their Massage On Demand® service offers six different types of massages, in 60-minute increments.

Founded by Samer Hamadeh in 2013, the app got its start in the New York City metropolitan area and is now available all over the country.

Zeel runs background checks on all their massage therapists and only hires qualified professionals.

Where Zeel Massage Operates

Though it was founded in New York City, Zeel now has massage therapists in Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and other metro areas across the country.

You can view a full list of all the cities Zeel is in on their website.

How Zeel Works

Zeel lets you book on-demand massage appointments on your schedule.

In some cities, massage therapists in the Zeel network can be booked in as little as an hour.

You get to choose what kind of massage you want as well as a gender preference for your therapist.

Then you set the time and location, and they’ll be there.

Therapists can be booked seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 8 a.m. to as late as 10:30 p.m.

Zeel massage therapists will come to your door or meet you with all their own equipment, including massage table, music, oils, and other supplies.

They will conduct a 60-minute massage of your choosing (you can book a double session if you please).

Payment is then processed automatically, including an 18% tip, through the app, no cash necessary.

Zeel Pricing and Member Plus

Once you download the app or create an account at their website, you will be asked to link a credit card to your account which will take care of all payment.

Prices are shown for 60-minute massage sessions and include a standard gratuity which goes right to the therapist.
Zeel does offer a Member Plus membership plan.

The plan’s cost varies by location but starts at as little as $93 monthly.

That membership comes with a credit for one massage every month, plus at least a 20% discount on all other massages.

For example, a Zeel massage in New York City costs $149.

Add tax and an 18% tip, that comes to $182.53.

With a Member Plus plan, that same massage is $99, or $121.28 with tax and tip.

If you get more than one massage a month, the Member Plus plan can be a smart investment.

Types of Massages You Can Get

man getting a Zeel massage
Zeel offers six different types of massages to book.

Here’s a quick guide to what each offers.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage therapy has the therapist give the client soft, kneading strokes on the muscles and gentle movement of the joints.

Combined with oils and music, it’s a relaxing practice that many people find can be a great way to reset and re-energize.

Deep Tissue Massage

For people with more serious muscle issues, a deep tissue massage may be the way to go.

While it uses movements similar to a Swedish massage, the deep tissue massage will have the therapist work much more forcefully to get deeper into the muscle.

Some people may find there’s a little bit of discomfort at first with this type of massage, but for serious tension or pain, the deeper movements may get more results.

That said, if you’re ever in pain, you should always speak up.

Sports Massage

Sports massages are made for athletes and can help with recovery or preparing bodies for peak performance.

They emphasize injury prevention, muscle relaxation, and improving mobility.

While some techniques from Swedish massage may be used, therapists in a sports massage often key in on the legs or arms or work with the client to improve hip mobility through guided stretches.

Prenatal Massage

A prenatal massage is specially designed for pregnant women.

Therapists will position clients on their sides or provide supportive cushions to help avoid strain on the pelvic area or lower back.

Prenatal massages can help women with headaches by focusing on relieving stress in the neck and shoulders.

Massage therapists will also work with clients to aid with leg cramps, swelling, and backaches by improving blood flow and working out muscle knots.

Sleep Massage

While some people may drift off during a massage, a sleep massage isn’t designed to make you fall asleep but rather to help you get better sleep going forward.

Therapists work out tension, showing clients useful breathing techniques and other relaxation methods conducive to good sleeping habits.

They will also provide a face, neck, and scalp massage to help clients release tension and get better rest.

Couples Massage

A couples massage can be any of the above massages, just done with another person, in the same room at the same time.

There will be two massage tables and two different therapists, but couples massages can be a great bonding experience and a nice way to relax with a friend or loved one.

Working For Zeel Massage

Many massage therapists are drawn to the profession because it’s a great work-from-home business.

Zeel still lets you establish your personal brand — massage therapists work as independent contractors.

And for many therapists, Zeel can be a helpful way to meet new clients and get paid competitively for expert massage service.

One perk of working with Zeel is the automatic 18% gratuity added to every booking, which goes right to you.

You also get to set your own schedule and can work days or nights, making it attractive for people looking for a side hustle or a way to bring in a little extra cash on weekends.

Plus you don’t have to worry about late cancellations — customers pay a fee when they bail on an appointment, and that fee goes to the therapist.

Zeel pays weekly, with direct deposit, and you get to see what you earn on every appointment, even before you accept the booking.

You can also set your location preferences and let clients know if you are available for in-home visits or prefer to work in a local hotel, gym, or workplace.

How To Apply

If you’re interested in applying to work for Zeel, the process is simple.

First, head to their jobs website.

Then, it’s a simple, three-step process to get started.

1. Submit an application.

You’ll need to provide basic personal information, so that they can confirm your identity.

You’ll also need to submit your credentials, your experience, and the insurance you carry.

2. Complete your onboarding session.

Once Zeel accepts your application, you’ll have a short onboarding session where you learn how to use the app, learn best practices and standards, and set up direct deposit so you can get paid.

3. Download the app and go.

Then you’re all set.

You can download the Zeel Provider app and start accepting appointments in your area.

Easy!
