Complete Guide to Uber Eats Bike Delivery [2023]

Uber Eats bike delivery is an easy way to earn cash, but it’s more than simply activating apps and getting on bikes.

You’ll have to lay a firm groundwork before you service any clients.

First, you’ll need to consider whether you qualify to be a driver and the possible challenges you might face.

You’ll also need to consider the type of bike you want to use.

Electric bikes and scooters offer faster food deliveries, allowing you to earn more.

On the other hand, a regular bicycle requires a lot of fitness and more patience.

Below is everything you need to know about Uber Eats bike delivery.

Can You Deliver on Uber Eats With Bikes?

Among the benefits of being a delivery person is that you can use a bike.

Bikes can be helpful if you want to avoid traffic or get some exercise while working.

However, you must pass the background check, have extensive bike riding experience, and ensure your bike is in perfect shape.

In addition, it’s safer to have liability insurance for your bicycle.

You can check with your local laws to see if this is required.

What Is the Uber Eats Delivery Radius for Bikes?

The Uber Eats delivery radius for bikes varies depending on your city.

In some cities, the delivery radius is quite large, while in others, it’s smaller.

To see the delivery radius for your city, you can go to the Uber Eats website and enter your address.

Is Uber Eats Better on a Bike or a Car?

There are benefits to both delivering with bikes or a car.

If you want to exercise while working, delivering with a bicycle may be the better option.

But delivering with a motorcycle may be faster if you work in a high-traffic area.

Other benefits of bikes include:

  • Bicycles are more environmentally friendly than cars
  • Bikes are cheaper to maintain than cars
  • Bikes don’t demand insurance

Bikes also take up less space than cars, so it’s easier to find a parking spot and miss the traffic.

Still, cars have some upsides, especially if you want to make more money.

For example, you can take on more orders with a car because you can deliver more food at once.

More benefits of vehicles for delivery include:

  • You can deliver to a wider radius
  • You can take on more orders
  • You’ll be protected from weather conditions

So, which is better? It depends on your circumstances.

If you want to make more money, then delivering with a car may be the better option.

But if you’re looking to get some exercise while working or avoid traffic, then a bike may be the better choice.

Requirements For Uber Eats Bike Delivery

Getting registered as an Uber Eats delivery person is a hassle-free process.

But before you start doing Uber Eats deliveries, there are a few requirements you need to meet.

Uber Eats Bike Requirements

You must be over 18 and have a bike, scooter, or motorbike in good working condition to get started with Uber Eats.

The two-wheel bike will also need to be undamaged.

You will need to have enough space to store food in an insulated bag, and you’ll need to pass a safety screening.

Uber Eats Driver Requirements

First, as with other Uber job opportunities, you must be at least 18 years with a valid driver’s license and car insurance.

You’ll also have to pass the background checks, including a safety screening.

Depending on your delivery area, your vehicle may need to pass an inspection.

How Long Does It Take To Get Approved for Uber Eats on a Bike?

The approval process for Uber Eats is generally pretty quick.

Once you’ve submitted all the required documentation, you will get approval within a few days.

But to be approved, you need to upload the following documents:

  • A photo of your face
  • A picture of your driver’s license or passport
  • A copy of your vehicle registration (if applicable)
  • A photo of your insurance card (if applicable)

After you submit these documents, Uber will review them and get back to you within a few days.

If everything is in order, you’ll be approved and can start delivering food.

Do You Get Paid More for Uber Eats on a Bike?

The pay for Uber Eats delivery varies depending on your city.

In some areas, bike delivery pay is the same as car delivery pay.

But in other cities, bike delivery pay is slightly higher.

For example, bike delivery pay is higher in New York City than car delivery pay.

The main reason is that cycling is more feasible in NYC than driving.

Do Uber Eats Bikers Get Fewer Orders?

The number of orders you get as a bike delivery person varies depending on the city and time of day.

Bike delivery people don’t get as many orders as car delivery people.

The reason is that cars can deliver more food at once than bikes.

So if there’s a high demand for deliveries, car delivery people can take on more orders than bike delivery people.

Is Uber Eats on a Bike Worth It?

  1. I’d like to add, having a e-Bike is really what makes bike delivery reasonable. Of course there are beasts out there that can plow up every hill, attack headwinds and not be a sweaty mess afterwards, but for me, using a e-bike with a top speed of 28mph, range of 50 miles or more and pedal assist make delivery a breeze. Very soon I’m going to add a bicycle trailer to my bike and contact Uber/Doordash and ask them to give me equal deliveries as a car, for I will be able to carry just as much in the trailer and go just as fast along city streets, with the added advantage of being able to go around traffic, on the sidewalk(when clear of peds), and make stop signs and red lights an optional case by case decision.

Here in the Bay Area there is a company Zoomo that will give you 2 weeks free(However after that it’s too expensive) with an ebike just to give you an idea. But in my opinion it’s better to get your own, and there are a ton of options. If you are looking to save money, consider converting one of your regular bikes to an ebike. It takes a little bit of research to teach yourself how to do it but really it’s pretty easy and there are multiple companies that sell kits with everything you may need, and they are much cheaper than buying a brand new ebike. It’s also easier to get high performance for cheap when you build your own. You can build your own ebike from anywhere between $300-$1000 depending on the level of performance you want, with more spent equaling higher top speed(30+mph) and higher range per charge(80+miles range before needing recharge).
However if you’re willing to spend a little more money, there are some great looking bikes already built by a company that look wonderful. As soon as I can afford it, I’m going to try to get myself a “Gemini ebike from the company Fucare. They go for about $1,700 however they also have a cheaper model called the “Libra” that is also fantastic, which gets 32+mph top speed and 50miles per charge which costs only $1200 or so. Both are on Amazon.

Just wanted to add my little two cents about bike delivery. I’ve been doing it for a while now and it’s fantastic. Hope this info helps someone.
