It’s all fun and games until your Instacart delivery driver shows up at your door carrying the wrong frozen pizza you ordered from Whole Foods.

Say goodbye to that barbecue chicken pizza you’ve had your mind set on for a greater part of the day.

While we won’t go on record saying this is a common occurrence, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Instead of moping around, you can get on the dial and get ahold of Instacart to receive a refund or a redelivery of your item.

This isn’t the only scenario that requires a customer to contact Instacart. Maybe you want to change an order after placing it, address other problems with an order, or even resolve account issues.

We are going to run through a couple scenarios that should cover most problems that would require you to get in touch with Instacart.

How to Contact Instacart

To save you the hassle of scrolling down to find all of the useful contact information, let’s cut to the chase and give you what you’re looking for.

Here is the Instacart customer support contact information:

  • Email: help@instacart.com
  • Phone Number: 1-888-246-7822
  • Customer support page
  • Contact page

There are a few things to note regarding each of these options.

Email

If you are going to send an email to a Community Support Member, make sure to provide a brief description of your question or issue.

Also, if inquiring about a refund, you must reach out within seven business days (more on this below). You can expect to receive a lightning fast response within two working hours.

Phone

This is our personal favorite because we think the fastest way to get something resolved is by hopping on a call and talking to a real person. The best part is that phone support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Customer Support Page

This is actually somewhat of a customer service FAQ page but we figured it would be important to include here.

It includes a thorough overview of any questions you may have regarding Instacart. This includes ordering, payments, login issues, account settings, and more.

How to Contact Instacart to Solve Delivery Issues

If you scroll to the bottom of this page, there is the same email and phone information mentioned above. Additionally there is a link for you to report a problem you may have with a recent order.

You will need to be logged in to pull up your most recent orders.

Contact Page

This is your all-in-one stop for any contact number, email, or social channel you will need.

While the crucial information is covered above, additional links include social channels, a blog with up-to-date news, and press and marketing links.

Now that we have that covered, how can we help you? There is a good chance you are here for one of the following problems.

I Want to Change My Instacart Order

You crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s. Everything is on your grocery list. There’s not a chance you left anything out.

But wait, you have forgotten the bread once again. That is sure to derail a meal or two.

A great aspect of Instacart is that if you are ever in this predicament, you are able to talk to your personal shopper who is currently working on your order.

There are two ways to get ahold of your Instacart shopper to make changes to your order — in the app or on a computer.

In the app:

  1. Go to your current order pop-up near the bottom, or tap the Account icon
  2. Go to Your Orders
  3. Select Current order
  4. Tap the chat bubble icon on the order screen
  5. Send a message to your driver
  6. Receive a notification when your shopper replies (make sure notifications are turned on)

On a computer:

  1. Go to View order status, or tap the Account icon
  2. In the dropdown menu, go to Your orders
  3. Select Current order
  4. Click on the chat box that says “Leave a message for your shopper here!” in the top right corner
  5. Let your shopper know what you need by saying something like “Please add bread to my order!”
  6. Keep this page open to view replies from your driver

Just like that, you were able to avert lunchtime disaster by adding bread to your list before it was too late.

But what if you already placed your order, received it, and there was something wrong with your order? What do you do?

I Need to Resolve a Problem With a Previous Order

We would like to think that everything always goes as planned, but we all know this is not the case. Sometimes problems arise and must be addressed to make the world a better place.

For instance, let’s say you are missing an item from your order and were charged for it. Of course you don’t want to pay for something that you never received.

The first step to reporting a missing item or any other problem regarding your order is to contact Community Support. You should not wait around to correct this issue, but instead request a refund as soon as possible.

To report a problem with a recent order, you will need to jump through a little hoop. You will first need to rate your previous order three stars or fewer before reporting an issue.

Here is how you rate your previous order.

In the app:

  1. Click the Account icon
  2. Go to Your orders
  3. Go to Recent order
  4. Tap Rate and tip
  5. After submitting a tip, go to Rate your order
  6. Select the appropriate star rating

On a computer:

  1. Click the Account icon
  2. In the dropdown menu, go to Your orders
  3. Select Recent order
  4. Click Rate order
  5. Select the appropriate star rating

Remember that you must leave a review of three stars or less to report a problem using this method. You will then be asked to describe the problem with your order. Shortly after you will receive a follow up from Instacart Community Support.

But what happens if you already rated your order yet still want to report an issue? You can always reach out directly to Instacart Community Support by email or phone.

Make sure you don’t put off reaching out to correct an order. Instacart is only able to give you a refund or make adjustments to your order if it is within seven days of when the order was completed.

After you get your refund approved, you can expect to wait five to 10 business days to see the amount credited to your bank account, depending on which bank you have.

Your official refund or adjustment total will show up on the respective delivery receipt overview within the Instacart app.

My Account Is Suspended, Now What?

If Instacart believes that your account has been hacked or infiltrated, it will take the initiative to suspend your account. This security measure prevents fraud and keeps your personal information secure.

What does this mean? You will need to provide additional verification to unlock your account. Your account may be suspended just temporarily or it may be suspended permanently.

Regardless of which camp you’re in, you will need to reach out to Instacart to get your account reactivated.

You can reach out using any of the above mentioned forms of contact. A phone call is always a nice human touch and tends to get things resolved quite speedily.

I Want to Permanently Cancel My Account

It would be sad to see you go, but maybe it was just never meant to be. Maybe you figured out that you never use the service, or perhaps you found love in another online food delivery service, like Uber Eats or Postmates.

If for some reason you feel it’s time to cancel your Instacart account, you will need to reach out to a Community Support Member to deactivate your account.

Again, this type of request can be done through email or by phone.

If you decide to email, speed up the process by including the name on the account and the login email address or phone number.

Expect to receive a Hail Mary attempt to get you to stay with the service, but it should be relatively quick and painless.

Is There Anything We Missed?

By no means does this list cover everything a customer may have inquiries about. You can always reach out to Instacart for anything regarding your account, an order, questions about item pricing, and more.

If you have any questions or concerns, Instacart Community Support Members are on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Instacart will be willing to speedily resolve any issues you may have.

In the time it took you to read this article, the missing item from your order that brought you here in the first place is likely already on its way from the grocery store to your home as we speak.
