Connectivity is one of the key advantages of modern digital cameras, so technologies like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & NFC are more important than ever.

Now, as you’re here, you’re definitely looking for the best DSLR camera with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, and this article can surely help you find just that.

Now, in case you aren’t sure if you need WiFi on your DSLR camera or not, I can assure you are getting good connectivity is really important these days.

Here are a few ways you can make Wi-Fi useful on your camera.

  • The most common use of Wi-Fi has to be transferring photos and videos from your camera to your smartphone.
  • The smartphone app, which takes care of the media transfers, is also dependent on Wi-Fi for its other features.
  • If the camera is capable of receiving over-the-air software updates, it will also require Wi-Fi for the same.

So, if the camera has access to Wi-Fi, you can forget to carry cables and stuff to do everything literally. All you need is your phone and your DSLR camera.

But, how do you choose which Digital SLR is the best of the best for your specific workflow and has great Wi-Fi connectivity that doesn’t let you down?

To end that dilemma, I have listed out the best WiFi DSLR cameras with great features spread out in various price points.

To make the Selection process as efficient and fair as possible, I’ve evaluated a large number of DSLR cameras with built-in WiFi, and done a pretty comprehensive elimination process.

From there I have selected the top 10 cameras that made the most sense.

Of course, I have created this list keeping in mind that different users need different features and don’t necessarily have the same budget.

So, there should be something for you as well.

Canon 5D Mark IV
  • Sensor Resolution: 30.4MP
  • Max Video Resolution: 4K UHD
  • Battery Life: Up to 900 shots
  • Weight: 1.76 lbs

Do you want to invest in a high-end Canon DSLR with WiFi features that will also satiate your desire to get the best photos and videos without any hiccup for years and years?

If yes, look no further than the Canon 5D Mark IV.

Wireless & Inputs

The connectivity options on this camera are more than enough to suit the needs of any professionals.

It has built-in WiFi and NFC for transferring photos.

If you are a travel enthusiast and like tagging your photos with the location, you can do that with its built-in GPS feature.

It can also be connected to an android or an iOS device through the WiFi function to avail of the remote control facility.

It also has ports for HDMI, USB, Microphone, headphone, and flash. You can be worry-free if you have this camera to ensure the best connectivity options.

Battery Life

It is a complete cinematic package that would allow you to capture videos for 2 hours non-stop and if you are up for a photo spree, that would go on until 4 hours.

Quite reliable for taking it to the events and functions where the rituals and rites might take hours and hours and you would want robust battery life.

Design & Build

This professional camera with WiFi connectivity is an absolute joy when it comes to design and build.

It comes with buttons that are widely spaced and have an ample amount of space in between.

No more congestion of buttons and pressing them by mistake.

It has a dial for changing the focus and settings near the 3.2“ touchscreen.

The left side has a vertical line of 5 buttons for various functions.

The right side has a margin of space left for you to hold the camera with a strong grip and give you breathing space while holding it.

There is a tiny screen on the top to show you all the configuration and controls that you might want to note down while you are shooting some wonderful portraits and videos.

Sensor & Capabilities

This camera is a professional one so it has the full-frame Canon CMOS sensor which is the best to shoot excellent and amazing low light photos with even exposure and brilliant balancing of shadows and highlights.

The Mark 5D IV gives you the best quality pictures with its really fast and immediate DIGIC 6+ image processor.

It also has Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus technology to enable ultrafast focusing and tracking of your subjects.

The Dual Pixel raw feature adds cherry to the cake by retaining real-like image quality and correcting diffraction which might spoil your photo.

The 1080p video can be taken at a 60p rate and 720p can go to a jaw-dropping frame rate of 120 frames per second.

Don’t worry if these numbers make you a bit confused.

Just remember that if a camera can capture a higher number of frames per second, you can have good slow-motion videos.

The higher the rate, the better the slow-mo video.

Focusing Features

We often come across limited focus points.

However, Mark 5D IV takes care of this by offering 61 autofocus points that are spread on the screen to choose the best point to focus on.

The beauty of these points is that you can select multiple points at one time too.

If you plan to shoot videos, you would be delighted to find that this camera takes full 4K videos at 30p or 24p.

Should you buy this camera?

Weighing 1.76 lbs, it can be a bit heavy for handling it all day long.

A few breaks in between should make you avail all the facilities of this camera without making you feel exhausted of its weight.

If you are looking to sit on the throne of having the best DSLR camera with WiFi included, you should go for this without any second thoughts.

  • Excellent design
  • Options of slow motions
  • Dual Raw format
  • RGB + IR metering sensor
  • Heavy for extensive usage
  • Fixed LCD
Nikon D850
  • Sensor Resolution: 47MP
  • Max Video Resolution: 4K UHD
  • Battery Life: Up to 1500 shots
  • Weight: 2.2 lbs

If budget isn’t an issue, you can buy this camera from the house of Nikon to get the best picture quality.

The Nikon D850 has read your mind.

Wireless & Inputs

It has all the up-to-date connectivity options like WiFi and NFC.

It also has a mic port, USB, HDMI, AV, and a headphone jack.

Nikon has got you covered on the connectivity front and made sure that you are always connected one way or another.

Battery Life

This camera can take up to 1500 shots of pictures in one battery cycle.

If you are into videos, this camera will accompany you for one and a half hours of full HD 1080p shoot.

The battery life is sufficient for the most.

However, if you are into wedding videography, you can also take a spare battery and gift the couple an awesome memory video they cherish for a lifetime.

Design & Build

Nikon decided to play it simple and elegant with the design of the D850.

It has a traditional DSLR design of black color with an ergonomic design.

The buttons have an ample amount of space in between to not feel congested and give you breathing space.

There is a 3 inch LCD touchscreen to give you a mixed feel of touch and press.

Sensor & Capabilities

The camera has a power-packed EXPEED 5 image processing technology that is here to process your images in the fastest time.

It would not only reduce the noise of the image but also give a clear image quality even when the lighting conditions are far from ideal.

The processor is fast enough to give an excellent rate of shooting 9 shots per second in the burst mode.

The full-frame backside-illuminated sensor gives you the extra push to get the best results even in low light.

This sensor combined with the EXPEED processing is here to make your images simply breathtaking.

The ISO support goes as low as 32.

This is a rare feat of Nikon that would allow you to go out in bright sunlight at noon and try taking some awesome photos.

Usually, the ISO maxes out at 100 for normal cameras, and for some advanced options, there is 50 but 32 is definitely a game-changer considering the edge it would give over others.

It comes with a unique DND mode that disables any kind of shutter noise.

This comes in handy when you go to click weddings or events.

The lock-and-go subject tracking allows you to lock at a subject and make sure that you do not have to run around to focus on the subject.

It would track the subject automatically, and you’d just have to click the shutter button.

Focusing Features

You can touch on the screen to get immediate focus on a particular space in the frame and make the most of your images.

The tiny cute display on the top is here to take care of your config settings and help you to show them at a glance without fidgeting on the screen at the risk of changing the focus.

Should you buy this camera?

The 2.2 lbs do sound heavy even for a professional camera.

It is not a great idea to roam around with it in events just handheld.

Some types of mounts and grips would come in handy and definitely help you to reduce hand fatigue.

The time-lapse capabilities up to 8K and other features make it an all-rounder Nikon DSLR with WiFi connectivity.

  • 8K time lapse
  • Subject tracker
  • 32 ISO
  • Do not disturb mode
  • Tilt only LCD
  • Heavy and not recommended for long handheld events
Nikon D780
  • Sensor Resolution: 24.5MP
  • Max Video Resolution: 4K UHD
  • Battery Life: Up to 2260 shots
  • Weight: 1.85 lbs

In case you want to dip in the Full Frame range of Nikon cameras, the Nikon D780 is definitely my top recommendation.

It has great Wi-Fi coverage with useful wireless features and it’s feature-rich with excellent quality photos and videos.

Wireless & Inputs

The wireless connectivity on the D780 is great. Alongside, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, it also has GPS and Bluetooth 4.1.

There is no NFC for some reason, but that’s not a big deal in this case.

External Bluetooth remotes are supported though.

As far as WLAN features go, Nikon has their SnapBridge app that lets you transfer photos using Wi-Fi to your phone and PC.

It also lets you control the camera and upload your photos to Nikon’s cloud storage.

Battery Life

The EN-EL15b lasts pretty long with up to 2260 shots while shooting with the optical viewfinder.

If you’re shooting with the display on or you’re recording video, you’ll drain the battery faster.

The top monitoring display barely uses power so, you can keep using it at all times.

Design & Build

Being a top-end device, the D780 has great build quality.

It is built like a tank and has proper weather sealing.

Of course, it’s not as compact as some of those full-frame mirrorless options out there, but that’s true for all full-frame DSLRs, so you kinda have to live with that.

It weighs around 1.85 lbs which is a bit on the heavier side.

It has a 3.2-inch LCD display, but instead of a regular side-flip display, it’s a flip-up type display.

So, you won’t be filming yourself with it.

However, for photography, it’s more than enough.

You can also use the optical viewfinder if you prefer that, and it is great as you’d expect in a premium DSLR.

It weighs around 1.85 lbs which is a bit on the heavier side.

Sensor & Capabilities

The 24.5MP sensor is excellent and thanks to it being full-frame, there is no crop in photos and videos.

The focusing mechanism is great too with a boatload of focus modes and fast autofocus.

If you are shooting fast-moving subjects, this is an excellent camera for that.

It is powered by the Expeed 6 processor and by combining that with that capable sensor, it can do real wonders.

The ISO levels expand from 100 to a whopping 51200 and the shutter speed can range from 1/8000 to 30 seconds.

The Custom White Balance setting can go from 2500K, all the way to 10000K.

Photos are excellent with great colors & contrast, spot-on dynamic range, and a wide range of manual controls to play around with.

In case you’re shooting RAW, it does support lossless compressed and 12/14 bit compressed options. Low-light performance is definitely one of the strong suits with impressive noise control.

It’s not necessarily a video camera, but if you want, you can shoot 4K at 30 FPS and 1080P up to 120FPS. That means slow-mo in Full HD is available, but you can’t get 60FPS in UHD. But, as mentioned earlier, this camera isn’t really focused on video.
