Cambly is always looking for native English speakers who are looking to bring in extra money.
You get to work at home, and can set your own schedule.
What’s also nice is that new tutors do not need TEFL certification — you can have it, but really anyone who’s a native English speaker can participate can earn.
You need a solid internet connection, a PayPal account to get paid, an enthusiasm for online teaching … and that’s really it.
Working for Cambly
Some features of working for Cambly:
Reliable, Weekly Payment
Cambly automatically tracks the time you spend tutoring, and they pay $0.17 USD per minute, which works out to $10.20/hour.
For online, part-time gigs like this, especially one that doesn’t require tutors to have special certification, it’s a very competitive pay rate.
What’s also nice: Cambly pays every Monday, directly to your PayPal account.

Earn More Consistently With Priority Hours
Priority Hours is your way to set a schedule so students can book time with you ahead of time.
While any drop-in can result in you finding a student to chat with, Cambly rewards tutors who commit to a schedule ahead of time by giving them “priority” when students drop in, plus it allows students you connect with to schedule time with you.
Priority Hours can be changed weekly, and cancelled up to 12 hours in advance, so you don’t have to commit to any long term schedule.
It just helps Cambly figure out staffing, and lets students book time with their favorite tutors ahead of time.
Ability to Earn in Downtime
That being said, any time you have a free hour, you can hop on Cambly and start earning.
Many tutors like to load it up while hanging out online, then pick up a drop-in student who wants to practice English for a little bit.
Plus you’ll meet some interesting people from around the world.
How to Apply
Want in?
Applying is quick and easy.
First head to Cambly.com/en/tutors.
You can do some more research into the program, or just tap “Get Started” at the top.
A form will then pop up asking you for a bit of information.
If you want, you can sign up quickly via your Google or Facebook account.
If you’re prefer to create an account, just scroll down and then you’ll see this:
It’s a pretty standard sign-up form, with one notable wrinkle: They do ask you to use your name when creating a username.
This makes it easier for students to know who you are and book you properly.
It also adds a level of familiarity to the booking process — it’s nice to learn English from Susie Q., not from someone like “luv2teach129328.”
