Over the past decade, delivery services have become more and more accessible.

No longer is food delivery limited to your local pizzeria or Chinese restaurant. Thanks to mobile apps and websites like Uber Eats, Postmates, and Grubhub, you can order on-demand food delivery from your favorite restaurants. One of the most popular food delivery services is DoorDash.

This article contains a complete guide to ordering from DoorDash and contacting the service when you need help.

Although you can troubleshoot many problems online, there may be instances when you’ll want to call DoorDash directly.

We’ve outlined the situations where the DoorDash phone number will come in handy and provided the best contact number for each scenario.

What Is DoorDash?

DoorDash is a technology company that connects people with the best in their cities.

The food delivery startup began in Palo Alto, California, in 2013. A group of four Stanford students —  Andy Fang, Tony Xu, Stanley Tang, and Evan Charles Moore — formed the company.

The company received inspiration from a small Palo Alto business owner who had binders of customer orders that she had yet to fulfill. After working tirelessly every day for three months, the students released the first version of their company, the Palo Alto Delivery Company. Five months after the first delivery, the Palo Alto Delivery Company officially became DoorDash.

Since then, the company has grown considerably. In March 2018, the co-founders announced that they received more than $535 million in funding.

DoorDash Phone Number and Contact Information

DoorDash takes customer service seriously.

Whether you’re a customer, driver, or merchant, you should have no problem finding answers to the questions you come across while using the app.

However, the company does prefer to provide most of their support through online forms. Using the online forms will get you the best service in most cases.

But if you’d prefer to use the DoorDash phone number to contact customer service, you can dial 855-973-1040.

Let’s take a closer look at the best way to contact DoorDash based on your situation.

Who to Contact During the DoorDash Ordering Process

If you have questions or concerns about an order you’ve just placed, you should contact the restaurant or your delivery driver rather than DoorDash customer service.

You can find the restaurant’s phone number in the app or contact your driver with the “Call Dasher” feature that’s built into the app’s interface.

Where and When Can You Contact DoorDash?

Some of the major cities where DoorDash delivers include:

  • Atlanta
  • Austin
  • Boston
  • Dallas
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • New York
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle

This is just a small sample of the cities that DoorDash serves. If you’d like to find out if DoorDash is available near you, enter your address on their homepage.

If the service isn’t available in your hometown and you think it should be, you can contact their customer service team to let them know.

If you have problems with your order, you can use the DoorDash phone number to call Customer Service who will help solve the problem.

However, DoorDash doesn’t list the hours that their customer service team is available. And they may not be around to provide quick assistance if you place a late-night order.

In these instances, you’ll likely get better results by contacting your Dasher or the restaurant you ordered with from the contact information in the app.

DoorDash Payment and Payment Issues

You must pay for DoorDash with a linked debit or credit card regardless of whether you’re ordering your food online or in the app.

In addition to the cost of the food, you’ll also need to pay:

  • Local taxes
  • A delivery fee
  • A service fee
  • An optional tip

If DoorDash partners with a local restaurant, the establishment helps pay for the cost of the delivery. In these cases, customers will find that there are no service fees.

Some restaurants may place minimum order requirements on food. If you don’t meet the minimum subtotal, DoorDash will charge you a fee. Similarly, DoorDash tends to charge higher delivery fees when demand is high.

When you check out, you’ll see the total cost of your order. You’ll also get a receipt that provides you with a breakdown of the order, so you know how the costs are allocated. Once you confirm your order, you can pay using a credit card or a DoorDash gift card.

If you believe that you were charged the wrong amount for your DoorDash order or were charged for something you didn’t order, you should absolutely contact their customer service team.

Upon calling DoorDash Customer Service, you can press “2” to indicate that you are a customer. Then, you’ll connect with someone who can help you sort through any financial issues you’re having, including unauthorized charges.

Should You Contact Your Dasher or Customer Service

If you need to inform your Dasher of potential issues with your order or give them instructions to help them find your location, you should contact the Dasher through the app.

If, however, you have a bad experience with a Dasher, you should contact the DoorDash Customer Service Team. You can also contact Customer Support after you complete your order if you’d like to adjust your tip.

Looking for a Reliable Food Delivery Service?

According to Technomic’s Melissa Wilson, more than 85% of consumers use off-premise food delivery services at least once per month.

If you’re trying to compare food delivery services, there’s a good chance that you’re overwhelmed by the options available.
