Homeaway is the part of the Expedia group of companies which allows you to book safe and secure vacation rental homes for every travel occasion all over the world. Like VRBO.com or Airbnb.com, you can use Homeaway.com to book vacation rentals ranging from a cabin in the woods of Texas to a castle in France to a condo in London to a beach house in California.

But what happens when you have a question or something goes wrong with your perfect vacation rental and you need to contact them? You might not have to — their fairly comprehensive resource guide may solve your problem. But if you do need to know how to contact Homeaway, you’ll find the process pretty easy. This article will help in either situation.

How to Check Homeaway’s Troubleshooting Guide

You may not have to contact Homeaway at all if your vacation rental issue is addressed in their resource guide. To check their resource guide, all you have to do is click here, scroll to the bottom and click on the “contact us” button. Don’t worry — you won’t immediately be chatting with anyone.

You’ll see a popup that looks like this:

Tell Homeaway whether you’re a traveler, property owner, or property manager.

Troubleshooting as a Traveler

If you choose “I’m a Traveler,” you’ll be taken to a page that looks like this:

You can now browse the most common questions and concerns that travelers need answered or addressed when they contact Homeaway. Commonly asked questions by travelers include, “How do I edit my listing,” “How do I request payment from my traveler,” and “How can I recognize a fake inquiry email?”

If you don’t see your question or concern addressed here, you will need to contact Homeaway directly and speak with a customer service representative.

Troubleshooting as a Vacation Rental Owner

If you choose “I’m an Owner,” you’ll be taken to a page that looks like this:

You can now browse the most common questions and concerns that that property managers need answered or addressed when they contact Homeaway. Some frequently asked questions Homeaway has answered are, “What are some guidelines for setting my rental rates,” “When are funds deposited into my bank account,” and “When do the changes I make to my listing appear on the site?”

How to Contact Homeaway Directly

If you’re a traveler, property owner, or property manager who needs to contact Homeaway, you can do so via chat or by calling their general customer support line. If you prefer to chat with a representative, you can do so by clicking here, scrolling to the bottom, and clicking on the “contact us” button. Tell Homeaway whether you’re a traveler, property owner, or property manager when you see the popup that looks like this:

Choose any of the question options and you’ll see the right half of the popup will give you the option to chat with someone from Homeaway or to call them. When you chose the chat option, a chat window will immediately open.

You can pick up your phone and directly call Homeaway at 1-877-228-3145 or 1-512-782-0805. Homeway’s phone and chat customer support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your customer service agent will ask you what operating system your device is using and which browser version, so have that information handy. If you don’t know those details offhand, you can find them by navigating to help.homeaway.com, choosing any category and then picking the “call” button.

Homeaway FAQs

Whether you’re a traveler, a property owner, or a property manager, the odds are someone has asked your specific question before. Here are some of the most common questions and their answers.

1. How Do I Find a Rental Property?

Go to the homeway.com and enter where you want to go, your arrival and departure dates, and the number of guests in the form fields. Click “search” to view your housing options.

You can narrow down your options by applying filters like location types, price per night, and various features. You can also use the map to zoom in and out on neighborhoods you’d like to stay in.

2. How Do I See What My Rental Property Can Earn?

Start by clicking here and entering the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in your property. Click “next” and then enter the street address of your property. Click the blue arrow to view your rental potential.

3. How Do I List My Property for Rental?

Follow the steps in “How Do I See What My Rental Property Can Earn?” and if your rental potential is appealing, you can easily create your account by completing the checklist and completing the relevant information.

Choose between an Annual Subscription or a Pay-Per-Booking Subscription and enter your credit card information. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions. Your listing is now live and ready to be booked.

4. Does Homeaway Include Rental Insurance?

Homeaway recommends and offers rental insurance to renters but it isn’t automatically included with a rental. You can learn more about Homeaway’s recommended rental insurance by clicking here and purchase it by clicking here.

Homeaway’s recommended rental insurance covers accidental damage by children and pets, and even from theft, as long as the rental conditions have been met.

5. Does Homeaway Have an App?

It does. You can download the iOS app or the Android app for on-the-go access to your account on your phone or tablet.

6. What Are Trip Boards?

Trip Boards are Homeaway’s system for organizing properties for you to look at later. You can save your favorite properties for a destination to a Trip Board by clicking the heart next to the property information. You can share your Trip Boards with family and friends by clicking the “Share” button in the top right-hand corner of the Trip Boards detail page.

Saving properties to Trip Boards allows you to monitor changes in availability and price without having to run multiple searches. Trip boards are tied to your account so you’ll be able to view your boards on your mobile browser or on your phone app.

To remove a property you no longer want to monitor from a Trip Board, simply click the X next to the property information. To delete an entire list, just click the X next to the name of the area you searched.

7. How Do I Leave a Review?

Whether you are a traveler or a property owner or manager, Homeaway will expect you to complete a review after the rental has ended. Homeaway will email you a link asking you to review your experience.

Once one party has left a review, the other has 14 days to complete their review. Neither party will be able to see the other’s review until the 14-day period is over or both reviews have been submitted, whichever comes first. If one party fails to complete a review during this 14-day period, they waive their ability to do so.

Once reviews are submitted, they cannot be edited by either party. Once Homeaway has read and confirmed the reviews meet their guidelines, the reviews will be publicly published to the reviewed party’s account.
